Below is an outline of the Kyoto University of Advanced Science Student Guardian Association Scholarship.

PurposeThe purpose of this program is to provide scholarships to students with excellent character and a strong will to study, so that they can continue their education if faced with hardship due to a sudden changes in their family finances.
AmountUp to half of a semester’s tuition fees.
EligibilityStudents whose have difficulty paying for their education due to the death of a financial sponsor;the unemployment (bankruptcy, layoff, etc.) of a financial sponsor; or housing loss due to natural disasters such as flooding, etc.Note: affected students may only receive this scholarship within one year from the occurrence of the above-mentioned event.
Application PeriodSpring SemesterDeadline: the end of April.
Fall SemesterDeadline: the end of October.
Required DocumentsApplication form, teacher recommendation letter, documents demonstrating the financial hardship of the student’s sponsor
Selection MethodCandidates are selected by the Student Guardian Association Scholarship Selection Committee and decided on by the president of the university.
RepaymentNot required.
Other informationThis scholarship was established by the Kyoto University of Advanced Science Student Guardian Association, an organization of students’ parents and caretakers. Applications to this scholarship are not accepted by mail, etc. Please consult with the Student Affairs Center for information on how to apply.
