Karan K C, a second-year Master’s student at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS), has been awarded the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 11th International Conference on Control, Automation and Robotics (ICCAR 2025), held from April 18–20 in Kyoto, Japan.

This prestigious award recognizes Karan’s exceptional research presentation, his clarity of communication, and his strong scientific contribution. His talk stood out among a competitive pool of international submissions from leading researchers and students.

ICCAR, co-sponsored by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society and supported by the University of Georgia, University of Essex, and University of Liverpool, is one of the world’s premier forums for research in control, automation, and robotics.

Karan’s award-winning research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Sajid Nisar, Associate Professor and Principal Investigator of the Novel Intelligent Systems and Advanced Robotics (NISAR) Laboratory at KUAS. His work focuses on developing novel methods and mechanisms to deliver touch-based feedback, aiming to make robotic teleoperation and interaction in virtual/augmented reality environments more immersive and intuitive.

“This recognition is a testament to Karan’s hard work and the culture of research excellence we strive to foster at KUAS. We are proud to see our students achieving such distinction on global stages,” said Dr. Nisar.

The KUAS community extends its heartfelt congratulations to Karan on this outstanding achievement.
