The ICT Center is responsible for the management and smooth operation of the online infrastructure at KUAS, including computer maintenance, campus networks, and internet service.

About Student Assistants (SAs)

SAs in a training seminar

Student Assistants are support staff assigned by the ICT Center to assist other students with computer and information-based learning. Their main duties are to provide support and assistance to computer users in classes. 

When on duty, these students wear a red jacket.

Recruitment of Student Assistants

Every year, new Student Assistants are recruited from May to June (fall recruitment) and from November to December (spring recruitment for the following year). Applicants are provided with a “competency check” and a training seminar. After that, they will be asked to submit a letter of recommendation from a full-time faculty member in charge of one of their seminar classes.

Eligibility

  • ・Must be a student of KUAS in their first or second year of study
  • ・Basic knowledge of computers (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • ・Must possess a KUAS-domain email address
  • ・Must be able to communicate in Japanese

General Job Description

  • ・Assist in teaching computer classes
  • ・Support for students in the open PC classrooms

Working Hours

  • ・Student assistants will be assigned to a position based on a balance between their free time when they are not in class, the hours required by the ICT Center, and the hours of other SAs. A poster will be put up in computer classrooms when the application period begins for SA positions, so please check the poster for details.

Netiquette refers to the manners required when using the Internet and e-mail. Please observe netiquette when using the University’s Internet and e-mail services.

Netiquette Do-nots:

  • Telling others of your affiliation or location 
  • Writing slanderous posts (i.e., flaming)
  • Posting of personal information such as credit card numbers, IDs, passwords, etc.
  • Using half-width unicode characters, etc. that some users will not be able to display
  • Posting copyrighted material without proper citations
  • Engaging in soliciation or other commercial activities
  • Sending chain-mails or other spam

Users who wish to use the campus WiFi need only perform this setup once.
