  • Dr. Yoshihiro Hamaguchi graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Societies at Shizuoka University in 2009 and obtained a master’s degree from Osaka University in 2011. He completed a Ph.D. program at Osaka University (without obtaining a Ph.D. degree) in 2017 and subsequently obtained a Ph.D. in Economics in 2020. After working as a research assistant at Osaka Seikei University from 2017 to 2019, he taught as a full-time lecturer at the Kyoto Junior College of Economics from 2020 to 2022. He then began teaching as a full-time lecturer at KUAS in 2023.

    Dr. Hamaguchi’s research agenda is to elucidate the mechanisms of sustainable development based on endogenous growth theory. It refers to the fact that more stringent environmental policies result in economic growth in addition to pollution reduction, thus improving economic welfare. In this regard, he has published several articles in international journals and received awards for citation counts. He still actively presents his research at international conferences while obtaining competitive external funding at KUAS and translating the results into daily educational activities.

    Apart from the above-mentioned educational and research activities, Dr. Hamaguchi is also a fan of traditional culture. In addition to listening to Western classical music and watching Bunraku, Sumo and Kabuki, he also enjoys traditional Japanese practices such as tea ceremony, Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) and Japanese calligraphy. In particular, he is a member of the Ohara School of Ikebana and is a qualified professor.
