  • Experienced business journalist, now a Professor at Kyoto University of Advanced Science, teaching Leadership and Communication.

    Professor Nami Yamamoto served as media strategic advisor for TV Tokyo, one of the major Japanese TV networks, and a member of Nikkei Group, which owns Financial Times. She was in charge of government relations concerning data and privacy policy-making until March 2023.
    Professor Yamamoto also served as a business correspondent and senior producer for World Business Satellite, the most popular business news program in Japan. She has produced numerous interviews with key policymakers such as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda.
    In 2010, Professor Yamamoto served as project manager for the launch of Nikkei Online, the most successful digital subscription news media in Japan.
    As a former New York Correspondent for TV Tokyo (1998-2001), she produced interviews with Jack Welch, then CEO of GE, Steve Ballmer, then CEO of Microsoft, and Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle. She also covered the recount of the 2000 Presidential Election and reported from the debris of the World Trade Center on 9.11.2001.
