Dec 27, 2023
EngineeringPatdech Tiripatsakorn, who is a second-year master students in Graduate School of Kyoto University of Advanced Science and the member of Electrical Machines and Drive Systems Lab (EMDS), has received Best Student Paper Award from the 4th International Conference on Advanced Electrical and Energy Systems (AEES 2023), held in December 2023 in China. This international conference is supported by IEEE PES and the published papers are indexed by IEEE Xplore, Ei Compendex and Scopus.
His research is about Self-Initial Position Alignment of Incremental Encoder for Switched Reluctance Motor and is supervised by Dr. Fuat KUCUK. Incremental Encoders (IEs) are widely used in the speed and position control of electric motors due to their compact sizes and low costs compared to other alternatives. An initialization process is necessary when an IE is used for position measurement. This research introduces a reliable and cost-effective initialization method for the IE mounted on the shaft of a Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM).
