On April 3, 2024, the 2024 Entrance Ceremony for spring entry students was held at Miyako Messe in Kyoto City.

Approximately 800 freshmen were welcomed by parents, faculty, staff and officials, as a performance by the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra set the tone for the start of the ceremony. A large display at the front of the hall showed the new students heading towards their seats with slightly nervous expressions.

In his welcoming address, President Maeda stated, “We have prepared a program that will help you gain the wisdom and strength necessary for you to pursue your dreams. I am confident that four years from now, you will be ready to take the first steps toward your goals and success, in Japan, overseas, or anywhere that your dreams may lead you. I hope that you will fully enjoy your student life and make the most of this opportunity. Congratulations on your success today. The future is yours to create. “

Following this, Chairman Nagamori delivered his congratulatory address. He encouraged new students by stating, “You have your four years of university to decide your career plan. It is important for you to possess something that you can say ‘I will not lose to anyone’. You will learn which studies you should put the most effort into and acquire abilities that are valuable to society. You will later understand that you have made a good choice by choosing KUAS. Today is a very good day for all of you. Good luck with everything.”

After receiving the Chairman’s congratulatory address, the faculty representatives took the stage. Kento Sawada and Kotaro Itatsu, the respective undergraduate and graduate representatives, made oaths on behalf of their classmates.

In the second part of the ceremony “What will YOU do at KUAS?”, current students, President Maeda and the deans of each respective faculty answered questions from the new students. Freshmen actively raised their hands and asked questions, which were followed by scenes of applause and laughter.

It rained on the day of the ceremony, but the new students stayed in high spirits. Many students took photos in front of the signs and banners in the venue, conversed with upperclassmen who came to introduce clubs offered at KUAS and participated in interviews with KUAS Broadcasting Studio.
