Department of Environmental and Bioresource Sciences
Utilizing the depth of Kameoka’s rich natural environment as study material, students get acquainted with the mechanisms of nature and acquire knowledge needed to confront the biodiversity crisis. Students engage in field work to learn the connection between organisms, the environment, and agriculture, as well as acquire a versatile set of skills in ecology, environmental analysis, natural cycles, crop cultivation, and more. Through collaboration with local communities, students take steps toward becoming experts in contributing to the symbiosis between human beings and nature.
Department of Applied Biological Sciences
Students gain a deep understanding of the functions of living organisms at the molecular, cellular, and individual levels, as well as learn practical techniques for improving human health. They will study advanced areas of applied biological sciences such as genetic engineering, plant metabolism, bio-nutritional science, and food engineering through a curriculum that balances both theory and experimentation. Students of this department aim to become professionals who can contribute to solving human health and environmental problems by exploring new possibilities of food and living organisms.
