Dr. Moritz Marutschke is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at KUAS. He has been interested in educational technology since his undergraduate studies in Germany. Several early internships at organizations such as SONY Material Science Laboratory and OMRON Keihanna Innovation Center led him to pursue Data Science in combination with liberal arts in his research. After obtaining his Ph.D. from Kobe University, Japan in 2014, he worked full-time at Ritsumeikan University as a Lecturer at the College of Information Science and Engineering, as an associate professor at the College of Global Liberal Arts, and at the Xiamen University of Technology as an adjunct professor.
Dr. Marutschke is researching e-learning and online course features, (global) software engineering education, and other collaborative learning frameworks. His research was awarded several grants, including JSPS Kakenhi and German DAAD funds.
He received the Best Paper Award for a publication in the Springer Nature proceedings of KES-SEEL in 2019. He was an OHM lectureship recipient at the Nuremberg Institute of Technology (2017–2022) and has served as an Organizing Committee member and Program Committee Chair for international conferences, such as IICST, IEEE CSEE&T, and Springer CollabTech. He also conducts reviews for these and related conferences and journals and has been serving as a program committee member for top-tier international conferences (ACM SIGCSE, IEEE IWCIA, CSEE&T, Springer AIED).
Moritz’s hobbies include, amongst many others, candid and scenic photography.
