  • Dr. Yuji Aruka was born in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo and attended Waseda University, where he earned his BA and MA in Economics. Following this, he entered Kyoto University where he pursued and completed his Ph.D. courses.

    Dr. Aruka was appointed as an associate professor for the Chiba University of Commerce and then worked as an associate professor and subsequently a professor at Chuo University, where he has maintained a position as professor emeritus since 2020.

    Outside of instruction, Dr. Aruka has engaged in an array of academic services throughout his career. He was a member of the Foreign Service Examination Committee at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for nine years and President of the Japan Association for Evolutionary Economics (JAFEE) for two years. He has also been an appointed Fellow of JAFEE since 2020. He currently holds positions as the Editor-in-chief of Evolutionary Economics and Social Computational Science, Coordinating Editor for the Evolutionary and Institutional Economics Review, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Economic Interaction and Coordination.

    Dr. Aruka also has abundant experience in overseas visiting appointments in the following countries:
