On December 11, 2024, KUAS held the final round of its 22nd Business Planning Contest. Five finalists presented their ideas, with “KAKI smart insole,” students from our Engineering program, winning the Grand Prize. This innovative proposal combined custom and smart insoles (with pressure sensors) to provide users with personalized foot health analysis.

Two projects received Excellence Awards: “Early Bird Partner,” a breakfast delivery service targeting shift workers and young people, and a “Sustainable Children’s Cafeteria” model using local, out-of-spec vegetables, already with a successful track record including an “SDGs Meal Recipe Contest.”

Two other plans, focused on SDGs sweets using Kyoto vegetables and a restaurant congestion app, received Encouragement Awards. The judging panel included faculty, students, and notable figures from the KUAS Support Association and the alumni association. This year’s contest saw over 25 entries, highlighting the program’s continued growth and its role in fostering student innovation.
