Nov 7, 2023
GeneralOver the weekend of October 28th and 29th, the Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS) Ryubisai Executive Committee celebrated the 55th annual Ryubisai Festival at the serene Kyoto Kameoka Campus in Kameoka City, Kyoto. This highly anticipated event turned out to be an overwhelming success, attracting a diverse crowd of students, teachers, staff and local community members.
The festival, which has become a campus tradition, was a two-day extravaganza filled with exciting activities showcasing the creative talents and energy of the university’s students. The festival’s main avenue featured student-managed food shops and food trucks offering lots of tasty treats, while tents lining the campus sports field offered carnival games. The stage featured live musical performances and comedy shows by KUAS students and staff, further bolstered by visits and performances by local celebrities such as KUAS’s own Tanaka Aimi.
In addition to the outdoor festivities, students transformed the interior of the campus buildings into a wide array of attractions. The daring could explore a haunted house, while drone enthusiasts tested their skills on an indoor obstacle course. In another room, guests could dive into the world of a student-developed video game, adding a touch of innovation to the festival’s offerings.
The dedication and hard work of the students paid off with a record-breaking attendance of approximately 1,700 visitors, surpassing last year’s numbers by far. With the positive response from this year’s festival, the students in the Ryubisai Executive Committee are already looking forward to next year’s event and hope to continue building on this success.
