Dr. Yoshihiro Tokuga Named Honorary Member of Japan Society of Accounting Research

Business and EconomicsDr. Yoshihiro Tokuga, Dean of KUAS Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, and Dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration, was named an Honorary Member of Japan Accounting Association at the 83rd National Congress of Japan Accounting Association held in Waseda University from August 25, 2024, to 28th.
The Japan Accounting Association was established in 1937 and currently has approximately 1700 members, making it the largest academic society in Japan in the field of economics and business administration. Dr. Tokuga has been awarded the Society Award (Best Paper Award) and the Ota Kurosawa Award (Best Book Award) in the field of research and has been drawing attention for his remarkable achievements in the field of international accounting. He has also devoted himself to international academic exchange and has contributed tremendously to the enhancement of the international status of Japan Accounting Association through research exchanges with many overseas academic societies.
Furthermore, as the President of the association from 2018 to 2021, Prof. Tokuga greatly contributed to the development of accounting research and society. In recognition of these achievements, he has been selected as an honorary member of Japan Accounting Association. Since there are only five honorary members, including Dr. Tokuga, in the 87-year history of the association, this nomination deserves special mention, and KUAS Faculty of Economics and Business Administration would like to express its congratulations.

“Forty years have passed since I started accounting research. I never got tired of it. But, during the last 20 years, I was not able to devote even half the time to research that I had in the first 20 years. So now I want to make up for my lack of study. I understand this award as a message to me to ‘work harder’. “
