シル・レイは、ワシントンDCの世界銀行経済開発研究所でマクナマラ奨学金を受け、カルシウタ大学とデリー大学で経済学を卒業。Delhi University（Shriram College of Commerce）、京都大学経営管理大学院（ILAS）、同志社大学、京都外国語大学で教鞭をとった。彼女の職歴には、マサチューセッツ州ボストンのシチズンズ銀行支店長、インド・コルカタのEEDF病院長などがある。Shilu Ray graduated in Economics from Calciutta University and Delhi University and received McNamara Fellowship in Economic Development Institute at World Bank, Washington DC. She taught at Shriram College of Commerce, Delhi University, Delhi; Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University; Institute of Liberal Arts , Doshisha University, Kyoto; and Department of Global Studies,  Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, Kyoto. Her professional experience includes Branch Manager, Citizens Bank , Boston, Massachusetts and General Manager, EEDF Hospital, Kolkata,India
